What Is Mail Forwarding?

Mail forwarding takes place when mail is sent to a virtual address.  A virtual address is provided to a customer or client by a virtual mailbox provider.  We at Lets Letterbox are a virtual mailbox provider.  We act on behalf of the customer.  Mail is received at the clients virtual mailbox address here at Lets Letterbox. It is then forwarded on to the customer.  Forwarding  can be carried out via normal postal services or by email.  When the client chooses email forwarding the contents of the mail are scanned and emailed to their email address.  Sometimes clients prefer to collect their post here in our offices.

Who Uses It?

Limited Companies

This service is a great asset to companies who wish to register their business in Northern Ireland.  When they register with Companies House (NI), they need to provide a physical address.  We at Lets Letterbox, provide would-be limited companies with a virtual address in Belfast, here in Northern Ireland.  Many businesses avail of our service so that they can present their business as being centrally located in Belfast.  Other business owners prefer not to have their personal  home details available on public record.  That’s where Lets Letterbox comes in.  Once the business has signed up to our Limited Company virtual address service, all HMRC and Companies House correspondence will be received at their new address.There new address is located here at Moat House, 54 Bloomfield Avenue, Belfast.  From here, we forward all mail to the client.

Individuals

There are a variety of reasons why individuals may wish to use mail forwarding.  For instance, students from abroad who come to study in Belfast often use our virtual mailbox services.  Overseas students want to ensure that their post or mail is not lost somewhere.  This can happen in shared housing accommodation, so students turn to us to provide a secure mail service.  They can collect the mail at our offices or we can email it to them directly.  Gap year students can also use our service no matter where they are in the world.  Using our virtual mailbox address they can access their mail by email no matter where they are.  In more sensitive circumstances when someone is going through a separation or divorce, they can use our services so that they have a postal address that is separate from their ex-partner, especially during the legalities of the separation.

POSTAL or E-MAIL ?

When a client uses any of our services here at Lets Letterbox, we provide the choice of either postal or e-mail forwarding.  Through liaison with our customers, we work with them to decide which type of mail forwarding is best for them.  Mail can be posted using the normal postal service.  Alternatively mail can be opened and the contents then scanned. The mail is then emailed to the client’s nominated e-mail address.  Mail can also be collected in person.
